I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sporty Group in Jul 2024
Interview
Had an initial call with one of their HR people. Very pleasant, he really sold the Sporty experience to me. Next was a HackerRank test, everything went smooth, use of IDE was not forbidden so I coded my solution in Intellij together with some local tests and pasted the code in the browser. After that I had a 3-in-1 technical interview with 3 of their Android engineers on system design, coroutines, compose, fragments,. The last guy which was the team lead if I remember correctly had a really difficult to understand asian accent. He had to send me the questions via chat in order to understand them.
I got stellar feedback from all 3 of their engineers and an offer after all these interviews but the financial offer was about 25% less than agreed in the initial HR interview(60k base + bonus vs 90k specified in the HR interview and agreed by their guy). This was disappointing after so many hurdles so I negotiated it a bit higher, the HR took in the feedback and went on to get approval from some senior manager for an increased offer. They also said after 6 months this would be reviewed and adjusted but they "never initially offer a senior position with a senior's compensation to anyone no matter the experience and feedback received".
This was the moment when the senior manager started nitpicking on my CV and didn't like that I "only" spent 1.5 years in my previous freelancing role. They ended up going over my hackerrank test again and noticed that I copy-pasted the code into the challenge. Of course I did that since I used my IDE to develop the required code. They started asking questions about that via email and in the end retracted their offer due to some tenure inconveniences from the senior manager.
I guess they're only interested in people who spend at least 4-5 years in a company. Too bad this is only obvious after all the hurdles in the interview process

Question 1
Different questions on system design, coroutines, Kotlin delegation, multithreading
It was a waste of time. I applied online around 2 months ago and I was given a hackerank coding test that was 90 mins long. 10 days after I completed, I didn’t heart back from them so I sent an email and the HR said I was selected for the next round and she will call me back and I never heard back from them.

Interview
The interview process has the following structure:
1. Online Test
2. HR Interview - great guy Michael
3. 3 (yes, three) different technical interviews head to head, each one with a memeber of the team. The interviews were quite technical, very knowledgeable people.
4. Final HR interview and offer.
Unfortunately, although I had "stellar feedback" they did not make me an offer because I did not offer "tenure" as they called it. My longest time with a company was about 3 years but apparently not enough for Sporty.
The experience with them was good but turned out being a waste of time and the rates weren't even that great tbh.
