      Senior Manager Business Operations Interview

      17 Nov 2025

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stanford Health Care (Palo Alto, CA) in Oct 2025

      Interview

The interview process consisted of four stages: Recruiter Prescreen, Hiring Manager, Panel with Senior Directors, and a final interview with the VP of the Department. All slotted for 30minutes. The process was inconsistent, as communication was unreliable. For the recruiter, I received a call about my schedule, which I missed. I called back like 5 mins after and couldn't reach them. So left a voicemail and text message. I didn't hear back until the following week, via text message - no email communication. I almost thought it was a scam. We finally locked in a time to meet, and I requested an email for confirmation, which required another follow-up from me a day before my supposed interview to obtain. After the Prescreen video call, everything seemed to go smoothly. I had my interview with the hiring manager the following week, and it was one of the best interviews I've had. He mentioned they needed to hire this role immediately, and shared the goals they are trying to achieve. I became excited to work for this company and made it my top choice as I could see how mission and growth-focused this manager was. He scheduled me for the panel interview for that same week, which I was excited about and took time off to prepare for. I also shared strategic ideas with the hiring manager in a shock deck to show my great interest in partnering with the team (I have never done so for any company). The call with the panel came and it was puzzling. They were neutral in response, and I got to learn how very political the environment was. I believe they wanted to be sure I was able to work in that type of environment. I honestly did not mind, as it's the nature of most Fortune 500 companies I have worked for. I did my best to express my interest, qualification and mission alignment. However, it seems like I wasn't convincing enough. I haven't heard back from them after that (now approaching a month). I followed up a week after to inquire update on my candidacy and expressed my interest but got no response which was fair. I received an offer from another company with a higher compensation package two weeks after, and I thought it was courteous to reach out to the hiring team to see where I stood before confirming my offer (looking back, I shouldn't have). Still got no response. I decided to withdraw my application today and accept the offer. I was honestly fine with whatever outcome they decided but the no response was disappointing. Maybe this was my sign that this wasn't the right environment for me.
