I was contacted by Stanford recruiter and had informative initial screening phone interview. I then spoke with one of the managers in the recruiting department. My information was then sent to the Executive Director of Advanced Practice. She conducted a phone interview with me. This was one of the most sterile, impersonal conversations I've ever had with a potential employer. She sounded like she was reading off a list of questions, but not really actively listening to the answers. After the phone interview, the executive director stated that she would be in touch.
About two weeks later, I emailed her to check on my status. Instead of contacting me directly, I was contacted by the initial recruiter. The recruiter contacted me VIA TEXT MESSAGE to inform me that they were not continuing forward with me and were instead going with another candidate. For any high level job, especially at the manager or director level, I expect more direct communication, not a casual text message. This was totally unprofessional and amateurish, in my opinion.
