I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Staples (Presque Isle, ME)
Interview
Talked with manager in store casually, mentioned computer skills and talked about technology in general. He asked if I was interested in fixing computers in store, just fill out application online.
Online application was fairly long, many questions and there is a personality test at the end asking if you mind cleaning toilets and stocking shelves and not stealing.
Interview was fairly standard. There was two interviews, the first one was just general retail questions, like "name a time you exceeded a customer's expectations" or "name a time you were overwhelmed with work and talk about how you overcame it"
Second interview was supposed to be technology based, didn't really get asked any questions, mostly talked with manager about logistics of job.
To actually work on computers, you must pass a certification test which is administered after you are hired and the background check goes through. It is fairly basic stuff like "What is the process called when the computer turns on and all the components are tested? POST"
