      Remote Stitch Fix Stylist Interview

      15 Jul 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stitch Fix in Jul 2019

      Interview

I applied online and was contacted within a few weeks. The interview process consisted of two rounds. The first round was a project submitted via email. I was given a list of hypothetical customers, and for each customer, I had to choose between three different clothing items and write a note to them explaining my choice. This was relatively easy and fun to do. The second round was a virtual interview. Before the interview, I was asked to create two different Pinterest boards for a male and female client. This took a little more effort because I had to fully style each client, based on their Stitch Fix profile information, by choosing five clothing items from another premade Pinterest board. I also had to write notes to these clients explaining my choices. I ended up having to reschedule my virtual interview because of technical difficulties. I think you need to have a very strong WiFi connection to use their video conferencing software. I eventually had to be in the same room as my modem for it to work properly. When I rescheduled my interview, I emailed them to ask if I needed to resubmit the Pinterest project and received two different answers, which was a little confusing. I resubmitted it anyway, just in case. Regarding the actual interview questions, they were mostly pretty standard. I was required to talk my interviewer, John, through my Pinterest project and why I chose the items I did. There was also a body type activity, where he asked me to describe what fit issues people of varying body types might experience. This is where I feel like I flopped, although he said there were no wrong answers. They followed up within four days after the interview to let me know I was not offered the job. I wouldn't call this a completely negative experience, but it wasn't really positive either. The projects were time consuming, and I put a lot of effort into them. That makes me feel like I wasted a lot of unnecessary time. They were somewhat unhelpful when it came to resolving the technical issues I had with my first interview session--my first interviewer said that I should have received some troubleshooting information in an email, but I didn't see anything there and she didn't offer any additional help. I also feel like communication could have been better, regarding the conflicting responses I received on resubmitting my project, and also the way things were communicated to me at times.
