      Product Manager Interview

      31 Oct 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Straumann Group

      Interview

Unorganized & unnecessarily long. I think the initial screening was not efficient. I felt my initial interview with the hiring manager wasn't insightful and thought we weren't a match. The hiring manager kept asking random questions about my background and my story. These questions were not relevant to the position but kept digging because they were "curious". At the end they said they can't really make a decision until they do a panel interview and business case presentation and that they were looking for a "rock star". The time and effort put into this stage felt like a complete waste, especially when you don't think your background matches what they're looking for, but you need the job and hold the hope that maybe they see something in you that resembles that je-ne-sais-quoi of a "rock star". I learned their line of work, company background, product information, did a financial analysis & recommendation. The panel asked questions and were very dry with their feedback. I was so angry at myself at the end. Angry because I was so tired and sleep-deprived & had learned unnecessary information about a product/company that I'll never use again. I knew it didn't go well and didn't expect to get an offer. Shortly after I got a generic rejection email.
