I applied through university. I interviewed at SuperCareer (New York, NY) in Nov 2016
Interview
Just asked a few questions to determine culture fit, asked a few questions to determine skill level. Was offered the position based on my education. I think I would have been fine not preparing for this interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If you were an animal, what kind of animal would you be?
I was asked to share my applied work on data science and my references. It was highly professional and I thought it would be a harder process but probably noone knew about data science they could not interview me as a colleague would. I spoke to the CEO and he was so passionate about the company and the team. He spoke for too long so I could have actually interview him in the while! But it was really nice. These guys work from WeWork offices so that's not the most glamorous work environment but there is so much progressive and positive spirit here that it balances the WeWork environment after Silicon Valley.

Question 1
I was asked to describe the "bag of tricks" method in machine learning with its pluses and minuses for a given specific context. It was a good question but of course I could have asked much tougher as a data scientist.
I applied online. I interviewed at SuperCareer in Mar 2017
Interview
I was undecided about joining this company because it is a startup and yet heard good things from a friend and went out of curiosity. The interview process was quite professional and what started like a pleasant interview turned into a tough challenge but I liked it. They were really looking for a solid engineer and not just any programmer. I'm very impressed with the company vision and upcoming products.

Question 1
An online screening followed by a thorough in person evaluation followed by a short but complex code challenge.
