      Technical Development Program Interview

      24 Dec 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Swagelok

      Interview

I went to a campus Career Fair in October 2013 where I spoke with a representative from Swagelok. He offered to schedule me in for an on-campus interview the following day. At the interview, I spoke with 2 people simultaneously: an HR rep and an engineering manager. They asked me fairly standard questions about my background and my goals, but there were no technical questions and they did not ask for many technical details about my previous experiences. I didn't hear from them for a while and had assumed that they had decided to go with someone else, but several weeks after the initial interview I received an email asking for me to fill out an online personality assessment, complete a simple skills assessment (online), and attend an on-site interview. This consisted of dinner with other development program job candidates and upper-level executives with the company, and then a full day of interviews with the execs the following day. All of the interviews were very straightforward. There were no surprise questions or technical questions. I got the sense that they were more interested in your personality and how it would fit into the company culture over what particular skills you might possess. One week after the interviews I received a phone call from HR offering me a position and a competitive salary which I accepted.

      Question 1

There were no difficult or unexpected questions -- just the generic HR questions like "where do you see yourself in 5 years" an "how do you deal with conflict at work".
