      Software Developer Interview

      9 Feb 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SweetLabs

      Interview

I applied online and then went in for an in-person interview. The interview was mostly discussion about previous experience and the vision for their product. They seemed like very nice people and the office looked cool. I received an offer, but it was very low compared to the market rate so I declined.

      Software Engineer Interview

      14 Apr 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at SweetLabs

      Interview

It was a very slow process. They take 2-3 telephonic interviews which are non technical and discuss your previous experience, then call you for 3 face to face rounds which is again non technical and then without taking any technical test, decide that you don't have enough technical experience. Never really understood the process as after 5 non-tech interviews which took around 3 weeks, they decided my tech capabilities won't fit the role. They always had my resume which clearly stated my years of experience. Was disappointed with the interview structure & the reason they gave. At least should have taken a technical round before deciding & ruling me out on that basis.

Thank you for your feedback, we are saddened to hear that you found the experience to be less than desirable. We do our best to minimize candidates’ time spent in the interview process and we apologize if you feel it was too lengthy. Finding a great fit that will ensure success for everyone involved is always the underlying goal. Thank you again for your time and interest in SweetLabs.

      Software Engineer Interview

      2 Sept 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SweetLabs (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2016

      Interview

Absolutely horrendous experience. Their whole hiring process is shambolic. Applied online. The recruiter contacted me the same day and set up a chat with hiring manager. It was a telephonic interview , we mostly discussed about my profile and about the company. I was invited for an onsite loop. Everyone were 'sweet' and treated me well on the day of the interview. I spoke with few of their engineers and the director of engineer, QA lead. It went on for about 4 and a half hours( which I'm never going to get back). I dropped and email after a week to the recruiter enquiring the status. You guessed it right, complete silence. The next week, I received an offer from another company I was interviewing with, so I called the sweet labs recruiter, she quickly came up with an excuse and hung up saying she would call me back . The recruiter later called(at last) me that afternoon to inform they are going through some re-org and they have frozen their hiring. So if I am ready to wait for couple of months they would definitely have me in their team*slow clap*. This company is a joke. I wasted my my whole day interviewing with them and took a day off as well.

While we are disappointed and not happy with your experience, we'd like to point out some facts. Yes, we did respond the same day we received the resume. Most people find it pleasant to receive a speedy response. The phone conversation did go well so we did extend the invitation to interview with the team. The interview happened on August 23rd. Based upon the date of this review (September 2nd), the 2-weeks cited had yet to transpire. We committed to respond with our feedback by weeks end. Due to the hiring manager being out sick, we were not able to respond until the first of the following week. For this we do apologize. The conversation had no mention of freezing hiring. Anyone can see on our Careers page that we have several openings. We’re a small startup. We hire very strategically to maximize our impact. Not filling one position at this time is not extraordinary - it’s business. We’re sorry you were offended by this decision. As stated during our conversation, we would be interested in discussing future options. Fortunately for you, you stated you had an offer in-hand. In fact, a very good offer you were accepting with another startup. We offered our good wishes for your bright future. Continued good wishes for your career.
