Interviewed after responding to Craigslist ad. Be wary of the verbiage "we don't hire backgrounds..." that is a red flag that your credentials and experience are meaningless. Simple process in first interview. They don't hide that fact that they want you to recruit others rather than be a producer. You MUST try to get an accurate idea of what your costs will be since this is an entry level (1099 and not W-2) sales position. Don't expect precise numbers from the recruiter. Try to see if you can speak with an agent who has been in the field for several months. Lead costs can be substantial and their strategy is for you to collect enough commission to cover the lead costs and hope that the customer doesn't bail out or cancel the policy (chargebacks) which could quickly cause you to run a deficit. A better strategy is to try to earn commissions as paid by the customer each month, but you will need to write a substantial number of policies to break even.
