After I sent in my application and resume I was emailed a link to a personality test. The test consisted of two pages of personality adjectives, both pages being the same. The goal of the test was to choose the correct combination of words that describes the personality the company is seeking in it's prospective employees. If I get the correct combination words, I win an interview. The instructions on the first page were vague, which might have been intentional. My interpretation of the instructions on the first page was to check off the words that described behavior I believed people in society expected of other people. On the second page I was instructed to check off the words that described me, in my own opinion. The instructions again were not clear, and did not specify places where I might behave a certain way, such as work vs. personal life, so I chose all the words that describe me. It turns out I did not get the correct combination of words. I checked the accuracy of the "test" and the website states a 56% accuracy rate. So, I was denied an interview because of a word test that was 56% accurate. Additionally, the test's instructions denies that it is timed. As timing is mentioned regularly, and it is stated that it takes an average of ten minutes to complete, I believe it actually is timed. The word list is of a college level. If you are well read and you know your vocabulary, you might finish this test quickly, which may result in a mark against you.
