      Engineer Interview

      1 Mar 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at TEECOM

      Interview

This is a lengthy review but this warning is worth your time I assure you. Every position follows the same interview process as well so this review is a warning to all. If you are applying here, please be aware that you are gambling and you will likely lose. Easy interview, but you will not get the job regardless which is why people are rating it as difficult. It is 8 HOURS of interviewing. Basically a full shift of work that you will not be paid for which is an alarming metric for this particular industry. Not a finance position, not medicine, not software, construction. An HR person calls you before each interview to give you some tips on how to approach it and gives you a summary and feedback after each interview. Before the final interview (out of 6) I was told not to sugarcoat anything and just describe my previous experience as it was and I did exactly that, I figured whatever happens, happens; if I'm too inexperienced so be it. It was all smiles and impressed reactions throughout the interview. I was called after the interview and was told that I was being disingenuous which was, one: ironic considering their extremely positive reactions to everything during the interview, and two: a crazy thing to hear about my own experience. I had shown proof of knowledge in the technical interview, was commended for it during every interview I had; all positive feedback. I also had multiple executives and direct managers I had worked with previously providing positive feedback as references and describing what I did and I guess they still didn't believe it. Imagine you are an avid swimmer and swim laps daily. You are doing breaststrokes in the pool when someone approaches and asks if you swim. You say yes as you are sitting in the pool, and then they reply "no, I think you don't.". What?! This is why I say applying here is a gamble. It has nothing to do with experience. It has nothing to do with whether you can prove you have the knowledge you say you do or even your references additionally vouching that you do. It does not even have anything to do with being personable or professional. It is just luck as to whether they like you or not. Or perhaps it hinges on whether they woke up in a good mood that day. I interviewed with 4 other companies during this time and the interview experiences were night and day in comparison. 1.5-2hr interview processes (2-3 interviews), offers, and no weird remarks or antics post-interview. If you apply as an ideal candidate to any position at this company, you have a 15% chance of getting the position and I think you can see that by all of the other interview reviews. You will lose those 8 hours and additionally, your references have to fill out extremely long forms which will waste a lot of their time. I know this because one of my references mentioned he had to fill it out spread between two days because he had a busy schedule and it was a time investment. You will not only waste your time, but also theirs, I apologized to each of my references personally afterwards.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that our interview process is thorough and requires a time commitment. Our goal is to identify and hire long-term employees while also giving candidates the chance to meet with multiple team members and to ensure that we’re the right fit for them as well. As you mentioned, we do conduct reference checks for candidates, and we recognize that this is another time investment. We truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to meet with our team and go through the process with us.
