I had a very uncomfortable and stressful interview at Telus. The hiring manager kept interrupting and sidetracking my presentation, and was not focused on my story. I was also challenged on my expertise and capabilities and told to explore another role (which was a soft rejection). The interview felt unstructured, like I was being asked to put on a show (interviews are not supposed to be that way) and showed the manager's inexperience toward interviewing experienced hires.
Additionally, I did not receive clear answers on core questions about product/company vision and objectives from the role.
I also never received any communication on the status of my candidacy from the recruiter, despite them informing me that they would reply post the interview. Ghosting a candidate who has invested effort to learn about your company is just rude.
Telus needs to be intentional about hiring and streamline the recruiting process to ensure a good candidate experience.
