      Software Engineer Interview

      23 Jul 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mumbai
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at TIAA (Mumbai) in Jul 2017

      Interview

WARNING for PUNE candidates: DON't ever go to this company . This company literally SUCK's a big time. Do not , I repeat donot waste your valuable time for this fake, unmanaged, non-technical company (especially for Software Engineers). The process is very unamanaged, tedious & worthless. I will describe this process step-by-step: 1) I got a call from consultancy named SearchQuest, they said there is an opening for S/W developer position for a company called TIAA . He said that the interview will be in Vikhroli (Mumbai) and when I said I am interested , they have arranged a cab. 2) The Consultant guy said that the cab will be coming sharp at 8:30 am but the cab driver came by 10 am , we picked other two guys and started from pune by almost 11 am. (The interview was said to be @ 12:00 noon). 3) We've reached there by 12:45 pm, already huge crowd was there to get interviewed. Hence, we have been asked to take lunch . There was huge que for even lunch :D , we finished with our lunch by 3 pm. ( Note: giving lunch is just to hide the waiting period candidates have to bear for being interviewed). 4) Now, we have been waiting for all day till 7 pm (just for 1st Round) ,major crowd waiting were from Pune, (wtf? why would they keep Pune candidates on hold if they to travel way back to Pune again). Rather the Mumbai Candidates were interviewed first. The candidates already frustrated asked them about their candidature status. These guys were so lame that they interviewed this guys with the panel who don't even have idea about actual coding. Just to "WIND-UP"( this statement was actually said by a women who was co-ordinating the interview). 5) Finally, I got my chance by 7:30 pm for the 1st round , someone told me to sit in a meeting room and said that the interviewer is coming in 2 mins. Here again I have to wait for 30 minutes . 6) The interview finally started with a very ARROGANT lady entering , who actually had no attiquetes to talk with candidates. She started with Data Structures , hasmap internal implementation, their time complexities, multithreading . The funny thing was when I was answering she was busy with her phone and I had to repeat my answers. 7) I expected that atleast the interviewer would be good with some professionalism but even that part was rolled out. When I came out of interview room I ran out of building and called my cab driver (NOT waiting for the result) . Getting into the cab was again a challenge as we have to keep standing for again 30-40 mins for him. Reached PUNE after 12 midnight. There should be some organising body who takes complaints about such FRAUD companies.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      Anonymous employee
      Pune
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at TIAA (Pune)

      Interview

The interview process typically begins with an initial screening or recruiter discussion to assess role fit, experience, and expectations. This is followed by one or more technical interview rounds focusing on backend development skills, system design, problem-solving, and real-world scenario discussions. Candidates may be evaluated on coding fundamentals, architecture decisions, and their approach to scalability and reliability. Subsequent rounds often include discussions with senior engineers or hiring managers to assess domain knowledge, collaboration, and alignment with team practices. The process may conclude with a managerial or cultural fit round before final selection.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me to explain how Java handles concurrency and thread safety in a real production scenario, including synchronization, locks, and how to avoid performance bottlenecks. Explain the difference between synchronized, ReentrantLock, and ReadWriteLock. When would you choose one over the other?

      Software Engineer Interview

      22 Jan 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at TIAA in Jan 2025

      Interview

For selection process there was 3 rounds, 1] Online assessment 2] Technical Round 3] Tech + HR type Round I cleared 1st technical round, 30 student selected for next round, Interview round was on the 21st jan 2025. I will tell you my honest opinion, I had prepared myself based on People's reviews and interview experience (Reviews was saying that interview difficulty level is easy to moderate-easy) but this is not at all correct. In my interview they asked me Core java, all the data structure's Internal implementation(Such as hashmap, cocurrent hashmap, serialisatin and even deeper concept which i havent read seen in My engineering), Then about project's mentioned in my resume. Then they asked me some Medium level DSA questions such Buy stocks and sell, gas station question, then number of days between two dates code in c++. Then for some candidates they were asking puzzles also...So my Opinion is put the things in your resume that you have confidence about...and be confident while giving interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Questions are medium to difficult level, but Do the striver's DSA Sheet. The questions were from that sheet only
