I applied online. I interviewed at TIME (New York, NY) in Jul 2025
Interview
I received a call within two weeks of applying from the recruiter (who shared he was the only recruiter for the entire company) (!!)...He was very knolwdgeable about the company history and even the role and team which was so helpful. After he screened me, I was shortlisted to meet with the Director....the following day....Very nice and I felt the interview went well.....I was then called by the recruiter to say I was loved and that I'd be shortlisted again to meet the senior director as well given an edit test. The recruiter told me at the stage of the edit test meant I was on a super short list of candidates. SO in true fashion, I was excited and thiught I had this in the bag. I then met with the Senior Director who was super nice and we spent more time getting to know each other as opposed to talking about the role which I felt was a good sign...I then was contacted by the recruiter a few days later with the edit test and had two days to complete. It was about five in depth questions that needed resources cited as well as imagery. I spent long nights on the edit test to perfect it....I submitted it to the recruiter. After one week, I decided to call the recruiter (as he mentioned early on was ok to do and to keep in touch). I inquired about the status of my interview and test as was tild he had heard nothing back from the team. I called a week later and was told hang tight the team was on vacation. (!!). Keep in mind I sent emails to everyone I met with to keep the professionalism alive! Three weeks went by and I decided to call one last time. At this time, the recruiter had forgotten who I was and just said there was no update. I essentially was ghosted.
Spoke with a recruiter, then made it to the second round where I interviewed with a head editor, who seemed distracted during the interview. I then received an in-depth test and had three days to complete it. After turning it in, I was ghosted by the recruiters/company and never received a formal rejection.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at TIME
Interview
I had a call with a recruiter and then a call with the hiring manager before being asked to complete an extensive edit test. I did, even though it was time-consuming and unpaid (and I was freelancing at the time, so was actively missing out on income to do it within their timeframe). I heard nothing back. When I got an offer from another company a couple of weeks later, I followed up. Again, no response. Even an automated rejection would be preferable!
