Process -
* Only 2 interviews for the engineering director role. 1 system design round with the senior engineering director and 1 coding round with a senior engineer. For some reason, they didn't have recruiter lead the process. Both interviews were scheduled by the Sr. Engineering director and no expectations were set for the candidate. There were no management related rounds which was weird.
Feedback-
* Stay away from this company. Based on the Glassdoor reviews and talking to the CTO & Director, it looks like the engineering talent is pretty average within the company. They fired many existing engineers and wanted to hire folks with software engineering degrees.
* The senior engineering director (who is also the hiring manager for this role) was pretty impressed with my system design interview and towards the end of the interview, he asked me about my salary expectation. When I told him my expectation (250k+ for the engineering director), he said they can't give more than $220k.
* I was ghosted despite pretty good interviews, and it was pretty unclear what they were expecting. The role was published as engineering director but the actual job expectation was for this person was to write code for the most part. Very weird company and people... looks like they don't know what they want and unnecessarily wasted my time.
