I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Oct 2012
Interview
First approached target at a career fair on campus and gave them my resume. The next day I received an email to apply online and was contacted to set up an on campus interview. This first interview was conduced by a store leader (i think) and it was basic behavioral questions and the usual questions of why you want to work for the company. Maybe like a week or two later I was contacted again to schedule an on site interview in the offices of one of the Target stores. Met with a district manager who conducted another behavioral interview asking questions about your leadership experience/ customer service. I was contacted a few days later to schedule my final phone interview which took place 2 weeks later. This interview lasted 20 minutes with the head of recruiting and some other person. Personally i think i did the worst in this interview, but i'm pretty sure it was just a last stage meet and greet to make sure I was Target material.

Interview
It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
