I applied online. I interviewed at Tempus AI (Chicago, IL) in Sept 2020
Interview
The early interviews were very easy and informal. I had a take home challenge which was difficult, and I then had an interview with other employees where they asked me rather difficult technical challenges, about biology or how I would approach some comp sci challenges. The people that worked there seemed nice but very intense. My main complaint was that the interview process was very slow and drawn out over months but I think this is because of Covid.
First, I got an email from the recruiter and then he scheuled a call for screening. It was then followed by the hiring manager interview. They canceled the interview the morining of the interview and then they rescheduled it with no issue. The hiring manager was friendly.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you manage time if you have multiple projects in hand?
The recruitment coordinator was helpful, responsive and friendly. The coding test is a bit ridiculous, though. They will judge you on coding style and adherence to conventions far more than your scientific rationale or ability to reason about experiments. Really impersonal and they don't treat you with much respect.
No recruiter screening, got to 1-1 hiring manager round recruiter responses very promptly, rejected one week after the interview, overall very smooth process. Hiring manager seems very smart and thinks really fast.
