In person interview where I sat with the GM and discussed expectations. Following up with a phone call interview about further details with the job. All in all it was super easy and efficient. I got a clear picture on what they expected.
I applied online. I interviewed at Texas Western Hospitality
Interview
I found the job opening via LinkedIn and applied on their site. I received an email confirmation stating that should I be considered for the position, I will be contacted. Two and a half months later, I received an email stating, "We wanted to follow-up with you on the status of your submittal to the position of DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER. It has been determined that you background is not a match for the requirements set forth for this position. Accordingly you will not be considered further for this position."
This is perhaps the most curt, off-putting, and below par rejection letter I've ever received. Most companies do address candidates with a greater level of respect, consideration, and professionalism at all levels of communication, including rejections. Although I believe I am extremely qualified and more than capable to meet the demands of the position, I worry others who receive this sort of tone would allow it to discourage them. I certainly hope they don't! Not every position is a perfect match, and that's okay. All in all, I would not be applying to a company that holds themselves above having responsibility of dealing with candidates in a dignified manner.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mostly very basic digital marketing questions that showed they don't really know much about digital marketing themselves.
I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Texas Western Hospitality (Lubbock, TX) in Apr 2013
Interview
One on one interview through Texas Tech University. It was very casual, like friends talking, yet professional. I was able to meet a lot of the upper management while on a tour of their hotels, everyone was great and welcoming. I got an offer right then and there.
