Dear former employee,
We’d like to clarify our standard hiring procedure, most of which you didn't mention. First off, applicants are asked to fill in an questionnaire, followed by a Skype or face-to-face interview depending on where the candidate is applying from. If successful at this stage, we engage with the applicant via exercises to weigh capability, as well as give written assignments that must be completed within 48 hours. This is followed by a second interview with a member of senior management before a final decision is made and the candidate is invited to our Head Office for the final orientation.
We by no means hire based solely on the ability to speak English. While English proficiency is a very important aspect as this is an English-language publication, the Country Editor role is highly demanding and we believe you do yourself an injustice in thinking that you were hired out of desperation alone.
Best regards.
