I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Center for Reproductive Rights in Sept 2023
Interview
I had a very similar experience to others who have recently posted (fall 2023). The man interviewing me was SO high energy and had a very fake bubbly persona, which was just generally off-putting and felt like it was trying to overcompensate for issues the organization has had. During all this fake excitement, he told me that the salary was non-negotiable within maybe the first two minutes of the call. Like others, he also told me I was exactly what they were looking for and even said that I was intentionally the first person they were interviewing because I was such a great fit.
The interview itself went well and questions were pretty standard media/press-related things until I asked about benefits available to employees. Keep in mind, this was an HR rep/recruiter I was speaking to, so this question should not have come as a surprise. I specifically asked about tuition reimbursement or opportunities to advance my education, and the entire tone of the interview shifted. He told me that he was "just trying to get this thing off the ground" (I have no idea what this means. I'm assuming he meant the interview process or my potential candidacy? Again, he was an HR rep. This is a basic question for him to answer.) and ended the call pretty quickly afterwards. I did not receive an invite to move forward, despite the interviewer insisting I was this amazing fit. Overall, it was a super weird experience -- definitely tainted how I feel about the organization as a whole.
