      Copy Editor Interview

      14 Dec 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Washington, DC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Hill (Washington, DC) in May 2015

      Interview

No mess, no fuss; just a relaxed chat with the managing editor and copy chief before a 15-minute editing test on paper. I appreciated that it wasn't structured to feel like I was standing before a firing squad and that they showed their personalities and didn't act so self-importantly.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It was a conversational style of interview in which they wanted to know about my background and experience. Then I got the chance to ask them questions. It was great that there was no structured input - or hand-braking - from HR. It seemed they were just as concerned with personality fit as they were with my ability to perform the tasks.
