fine, standard questions staff seemed nice, interviewed at a few london newspapers . having to fill this out as glassdoor has asked me to. seemed like a good company to work for.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The London Evening Standard (London, England) in Apr 2022
Interview
It was amateurish. They were unprofessional as they made jokes unrelated to the job. Without notice, an editing task was given with a ten-year-old MacBook that could barely handle a few clips. I still find it hard to understand what they expected people to produce with the oldest MacBook I ever used to edit video.

Interview
I applied via LinkedIn and received an email inviting me to an interview for the following week. I tried to answer as many questions as I could and referred to my cv when it came to the experience I saw as being most relevant. Throughtout the interview the interviewer seemed to not be quite sure what they were looking for with regards to a candidate and at one point said they had received some weird applications through for this role which I found an odd statement to made. Despite conducting research into the brand and even managing to answer the question "what do I see as the biggest challenges facing the Evening Standard" it was clear that this didn't make much impact. At the end of the interview I was told I would receive an update with regards to my application the following week. As I hadn't heard anything I sent an email to receive feedback. The feedback consisted of praising me for my research into the company and explaining my marketing experience but they had decided that I wouldn't be taken forward because I didn't have enough editorial experience. I was baffled by this as the post stated the person needed marketing experience because the role didn't sit within the editorial department. The interview experience left me feeling very disappointed.
