      Marketing Coordinator Interview

      15 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at The Scion Group in Jun 2020

      Interview

This was by far the worst interview process I have ever had! It started great with being contacted by HR around 2 weeks after I applied. The conversation went great and I moved to the next step, which was to interview with the hiring manager. That went great as well and was sent an assessment. I was told the assessment was part of the interview process and led to believe it was testing my social media and marketing knowledge. Now, I have taken assessments for other jobs, and they typically are less than or around an hour and are multiple-choice. Not this one! The assessment took HOURS and was not multiple choice. First, you submit 10 responses to 10 negative reviews their properties have received. After, you complete a social media audit and analysis for 5 of the residential properties they selected. Lastly, you create a video tutorial teaching a handy feature on social media. At the end of the assessment, you have to explain why you are the right person for the job and have the option to submit a portfolio of previous work. I completed all the required sections of the assessments and submitted them to the hiring manager's email. I never received a receipt of confirmation or even a general email that says "Thanks! We will reach out soon with the next steps." Nothing! I wait two weeks and I get a general no-reply email thanking me for interviewing but they were going with another candidate. I can understand there is a better candidate, but to send a general email after all the hoops I had to jump through is just disrespectful. It would've been nice to receive a personalized email with actual feedback. Regardless, I don't recommend applying or interviewing with the corporate side of this company. There were a couple of red flags that arose during the interview process, that I missed. One is that everyone who I interviewed with had been with the company for less than a year. The second is that the company posted a "We stand in solidarity with our black employee", but if you look at the employees on LinkedIn (corporate employees not the property employees), very few are Black.
