The university recruiter reached out to my via email, and we talked briefly over the phone about my interests and resume. Then he set up a technical phone/Skype interview with an engineer. I coded on a shared Google doc. The interviewer asked me to us JS even though I mentioned that I wasn't proficient; he encouraged me to look up syntax online, and the language was not really a barrier.
