      Digital Marketing Manager Interview Interview

      28 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tritility in Aug 2024

      Interview

Decent start to the interview process. I had applied and heard back that day, had a phone call with an internal recruitment consultant, for about half an hour and I was invited to interview. A few red flags were raised as on the call it was mentioned the person who previously held the position had only lasted a couple of weeks as they weren't 'up to scratch'. But I went with it and attended the interview. This lasted an hour and with travel meant I had to take time away from my current position to attend it. I completed the interview with Marketing and Recruitment Consultant, it went pretty well and then the process got very strange. After being told I would be contacted in the couple of days after, absolute radio silence, even when dropping a check-in email, just totally ignored for nearly 3 weeks. In my 10 years in the industry i've never come across a company who didn't at least communicate with a basic email the outcome, pretty much the bare minimum you can expect when taking time out of your day and attending an office physically, so I called directly. I was told by the recruiter that he had already called me and communicated the fact that the role was being discontinued and they were now recruiting for a Graphic Designer (a totally different role) and had sent a copy of the call to HR. This imaginary call had never taken place and I can only assume that someone was in room who he was trying to convince he had followed correct procedure, its also not GDPR compliant to record calls without the person knowing and consenting, even if the call had ever happened. The call ended fairly aggressively as well as I was essentially being branded a liar for some odd reason. All in all a very strange experience, I should have probably read the reviews about people losing their jobs overnight, other examples of ghosting etc and a general lack of respect/compliance in the industry and I wouldn't have been so surprised, but one of the most shocking interview experiences i've had in my career.
