      Business Development Manager Interview

      23 Aug 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TruConnect (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2018

      Interview

I applied online for the Business Development Manager position and heard back within 48 hours requesting an interview at their LA headquarters. I arrived at the interview on time at which point I was told the person I was to the interviewer was in a meeting and unavailable. I was informed that it was going to be a while and they like to reschedule (Warning #1). After leaving and after about 30 minutes later they called requesting I come back and the interviewer was not available. Being stuck in rush hour LA traffic it would not be possible. We discussed a possible phone interview but they insisted on an in-person meeting (Warning #2) and after four or so phone calls we agree to meet two days later. The newly scheduled interview was straight forward and they indicated interest. I was asked to come back for a second interview with the CEO's the following week. The following interview was standard as well. It should be noted that they clearly do not have confidence some of their current leadership staff which was shocking to hear (Warning #3). I am then told I will be having phone interviews with the CTO and CIO the following week. The CTO interview was a standard 45-minute phone interview. The last step I assumed in the process was the CIO interview which was mysteriously canceled a few hours before. I reached out to the company asking about rescheduling and any information on the cancelation and none was provided (Warning #4). After a few days, I sent an e-mail asking about the next steps in the interview process and a day or two later I received a response I am no longer being considered. I would HIGHLY suggest researching this company in detail before agreeing to any interview process. With the proper research, you will find some concerning information regarding their C-level and executive staff's experience and their timely payment of vendors. Specifically, many of the companies they worked for are now out of business. Some of that can be contributed to the nature of the business but there is something that feels off about the entire operation. To be fair, everyone appeared nice enough but I would use extreme caution when dealing with this company. Overall, there is a concerning lack of professionalism and I question their actual commitment to hiring for their Business Development position.
