UnderwriteMe Text Mining Tech Lead / Engineering Manager interview questions

UnderwriteMe HR representative stated a number for the maximum base salary. I pointed out his number was £15,000 lower than the advertised maximum base salary. First, he claimed that the web site having the job advert included base and bonus together in one figure. I re-read the same advert while on the call and explained that, no, separate figures were provided: one labelled “OTE” (i.e. On Target Earnings, aka base plus bonus), and another labelled “Base”. He suddenly changed his tune, now claiming the advertised number was a mistake and he'd raise it with an "account manager". It is three weeks after him saying that and their advert remains unchanged. So, watch out. They state the maximum salary for the role is £15,0000 lower than they chose to advertise (their own advert, that they control the content of, as a direct employer).
