The interview process was quite standard for the UN with 3 stages. First, applying online, 2nd - going through a written test (around 2 hours, quite difficult/needs prior preparation, represents a set of professional-based tasks such as translated correspondence, write a press release, give a political assessment to country situation), interview in person with a panel of 3 people including 1 HR, the Department Chief, 1 team member. The interview was around 50 minutes, with a series of competency-based questions, which are widely used at UN. The purpose is to see how in your previous work experience you have demonstrated competencies they are looking for, such as ability to work in a global environment, solve inner conflicts, deliver difficult messages, deal with highly sensitive materials etc. Later followed questions on my personal career plans and interests.
