I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at University of Cambridge (Cambridge, England) in Dec 2009
Interview
I entered the room and was faced with a scene from the Bible. 6 balding aged men where sat round in a semi-circle and then proceeded to fire questions at me for 40 min until they felt they had build enough of a picture of my personality to make me an offer.
The Cambridge interview process typically involves several stages, including academic interviews, problem-solving discussions, and personal statement reviews. It is designed to assess intellectual curiosity, analytical reasoning, communication ability, and subject-specific understanding.
General motivational and fit chat. I think most of the candidate selection was done based on the submitted CVs, motivational letters and references. No technical questions or discussions during the actual interview.
It was an intellectually stimulating interview with many of questions relevant to the course content. Interviewer was very kind. Asked follow up questions. Relevant to the degree. Can be a little challenging towards the end but overall manageable.
