      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at University of Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I was Initially given a phone interview by a recruiter which whom was very abrupt and demanding of how I should interview. He asked me the general phone interview questions about my background but never asked me if I had any questions and when I mentioned that I too wanted to ask a few things he was a little standoffish regarding the information I was seeking. He also spoke really fast and was hard to hear and understand a lot of the time. Surprisingly, I was however offered a in person interview with 3 of the managers which went well and made me actually excited for the opportunity. I was offered the position of the academic advisor the very next day. However, upon my background check which I did get a copy of they informed me that my Bachelor degree wasn’t “regionally” accredited and only “nationally” accredited and therefore will be rescinding my offer. I was shocked. Who knew that mattered? They did however offer me a financial aid position at 10k less a year than what they initially offered me. I was actually very disappointed that they base their successes and employees on the accreditation of their hard-earned degrees vs the fact they have an education to begin with and successfully interviewed and was offered the initial position based on their character. I declined the offer. * I did enjoy interviewing with the managers but other than that this process was very disappointing. * * No where in their job posting does it mention your Bachelors degree needs to be a certain accreditation*

      Interview

The interview process was strange. The recruiter emailed me a list of questions she stated they would be asking me, which were "STAR" questions. The interviewers did not ask me ONE question from that list or anything similar to it. They asked me what "major changes and innovative ideas" I brought to my current company that "changed the structure" of things. They also made me do a role play pretending to be an advisor convincing someone not to drop out of school.

      Interview

Pretty easy, lots of behavioral questions, and as long as you tie some experience into it you should land the job. Focus on customer experience and passion for education and you will be fine.
