I was supposed to have an initial Zoom interview with a certain team member, but there was a last-minute conflict, so I spoke with the recruiter himself. Understandable; things happen. We had a decently long conversation. At the end, he said he would schedule a follow-up conversation between me and another team member within the next couple of days. That never happened. I was effectively ghosted.
Several weeks later, I received a call from an unknown number and answered it. It was the recruiter, wondering if I was still interested in the role. I assume their first five choices didn't work out for whatever reason, so they reached out to me, a last resort whom they technically never rejected, only ghosted. That didn't make a great impression on me at all, but I was willing to hear them out. The recruiter proceeded to ask me just about everything we had already covered during our initial conversation. I'm not sure what the point of repeating it was. He, once again, promised to get back to me in a day or two, only to ghost me a second time. I consider this unprofessional and borderline insulting. Please have empathy for the uncertain position candidates are in and don't needlessly string us along and waste our time.
