      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at UserTesting (New York, NY) in Apr 2022

      Interview

Worst first interview ever! Very rude guy, unprofessional, and disrespectful internal recruiter directly from UserTesting. He had no understanding of what UX Design is. He kept asking me what my software developer experience was. Asked me questions that are clearly written on my portfolio and resume, like how long have I been doing this kind of work? He would talk over me as I was talking. My resume clearly shows I have 12 years experience. He was 10 minutes late for the interview. I'm really shocked that this company has someone this stone cold faced, unfriendly, rude guy working for them. When I told him all of my past responsibilities in roles he scoffed at me in disbelief and rudely said there's no way I did all of it. When in fact I did. I have proof and references. Until the interview, I really wanting to work for UserTesting. But I wouldn't want to work there if they find thos kind of attitude accepting from a recruiter. How did this guy get hired? I've considered writing to the company about this awful interview experience. I wish I could call his mom and dad, curious about how they coped with raising this jerk. Interview was a complete waste of my time, a total disappointment. This guy clearly shouldn't be representing this company or any company. He should be scrubbing floors with his mouth shut. The whole interview felt like a scam. Like he was some psycho who hated people and didn't want hear anything I had to say from the very beginning. It was just awful start to finish. As a UX Researcher, I might not ever use UserTesting for future usability tests at my next job because of this whole experience. Not only will they lose a qualified job candidate, they've lost me as a customer. Send me a qualified recruiter and maybe I'll change my mind about this company.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at UserTesting (Barcelona) in Feb 2022

      Interview

I had my first interview with someone from User Zoom to discuss salary, position and initial expectations. They offered a salary well below market prices like 40k for a senior UX designer in Spain. We decided to not continue the interview process because I had asked for more money that they were willing to offer. When I told him what I considered should be the salary, the interviewer said and I quote that "there was always going to be someone from latin america (like myself) or from middle east" who would accept less money than what the market is paying, to which I didn't feel confortable proceeding with such racists comments.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at UserTesting (Mountain View, CA) in Sept 2012

      Interview

After passing a phone interview I met with about 5 people on the product and engineering teams. I felt like we mainly talked about the process I use to tackle projects. I felt like the interviews went really well and then I got called back to do a brief design challenge in person. This mainly consisted of identifying a specific problem with the website and how I might go about finding a solution to make it better.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What’s your design process? What were the business challenges on a recent project you worked on? What was your approach? How did you measure success / failure? How do you relate to engineer’s technical challenges? What do you dislike about UserTesting? How would you improve it?
