      Ruby On Rails Developer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors in Dec 2015

      Interview

The following took place over the course of about 2 months. It started with a 10-minute phone call with an internal recruiter. I then got an email to schedule another phone call with a different recruiter. I don't remember the phone conversations being any different. I then got asked to complete a technical challenge, which was to create a semi-complete website within a week. I finished the challenge and submitted it, but didn't hear anything back for a week, so I pinged the recruiter, who said they would have the results by the end of the week. After another week goes by, I email the recruiter again, and got a similar response. The third time was apparently the charm, because after I emailed the recruiter at the end of the 3rd week, I received an email to schedule a group interview. The group interview as with some product managers and some lead developers. It consisted mostly of asking about what I'm looking for in a team, what my previous experience was as a developer, and why I was interested in Varsity Tutors. The few technical questions I received were about networking and databases. There were no questions about Ruby, Rails, or front-end development.
