      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Veeder-Root (Houston, TX)

      Interview

I was interviewed for software engineer position at Veeder root fuel quest (Houston). There will be a screening round before the actual interview which took about 45 minutes (phone call). In this round I was asked questions regarding Spring, Core Java and Hibernate. If they are satisfied with screening round, they would call for the actual face to face interview. The interview takes about 3hrs and 5 people will be interviewing you in the 3 different rounds. The first round is completely technical and you will be asked different questions about various things in the resume (for me its Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL, Agile scrum methodology etc). The second round is a combination of technical and non technical stuff. The third round is with the head of software department at Veeder root. After this is done and if they are satisfied you will have HR interview through phone call.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Veeder-Root (Simsbury, CT) in Jan 2009

      Interview

Have been interviewed by the two lead software engineers. The interview was relaxed, the attitude of the interviewers very friendly. The discussion meandered through C/C++ programming basics, with little in-depth substance. No gotchas, no adverserial questions. They seemed to emphasize the practical aspect of getting things done rather than splitting hairs on the finer aspects of the language. Practically, no algorithms and no data structures component in the discussion, other than the very basics points. Most of the time spent discussing the previous experience detailed in the resume.
