Recruiter seemed burnt out and read from a script. Followed by dry, lackluster interview with hiring manager. No one explained interview process and I was surprised to receive a 'mini project' due in 1 week as a next step. The project was a ridiculous amount of work and had nothing to do with testing automation, in fact only one vague line from requirements even mentioned tests. I was given a week to do a full CRUD api app with hashing, tests, telemetry in a container with a private docker registry + helm chart. I got an email from recruitment stating the project was due on Sat (4 days after I was given the assignment). I asked for clarification on the nebulous requirements and never received any answers other than an odd 'thanks for applying, we'll look at your resume' boiler plate email. The role was never clearly explained but given the code challenge, seems like they want a backend/dev ops engineer under a cheaper QA salary title. The interviewers seems disengaged and it seemed like a culture of that values speed over quality. I suspect this is the type of company that burns out their talent through unattainable goals and out of touch middle management.
