      Video Transcode Engineer Interview

      20 Oct 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Vimeo (New York, NY) in Sept 2019

      Interview

Two phone interviews -- one with recruiter, one with hiring manager. Followed by an all day on-site interview. Interview was scheduled from 11am-2:30 pm with a rotating group of interviewers, and no lunch (or even a break for lunch) was provided. The review was professional and serious, and the engineers seemed knowledgeable and asked solid questions, but it seemed like the interview logistics could have been better thought out.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

As a take-home test was asked to write a C program that used open source media API to decode video frames in stream order rather than presentation order.
