The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Voleon in Jan 2016
Interview
As others have described, they ask you to complete a work sample which is fitting a linear model to noisy data. Contact person, who was at first rude over the phone, convinced me to do it. After spending a lot if time on it, I submit and two weeks later hear there is no fit. No explanation why; they want to "protect the integrity of the test". Not at all helpful. Surely there is some feedback they could give without revealing what they view as a good answer. Too long, too short, not enough detail, invalid assumptions, whatever.
Quite smarmy and unprofessional interviewer and that overall experience made it seem like a terrible place to work. I withdrew my application because of that first impression of toxic competitiveness

Interview
One recruiter call one technical phone and and two onsites. If you pass the two onsites you get one more round which consists of coding and research questions. The focus is very much on ML theory and statistical knowledge.

HR is nice. After a discuss for half an hour, she assigned me the phone interview.
The first round interview was implemented by zoom for one hour, which is mainly about statistics and machine learning.
