I applied online. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (Liverpool, NY) in Aug 2022
Interview
Phone interview was scheduled via Workday and took place in the morning on the following day. At first it seemed very pleasant and I was enthusiastic but the person conducting the interview seemed like they were bored and clocked out. It was disarming but in an interview it’s better to swim upstream and do the best you can especially over the phone. Absolutely zero questions were asked about anything other than my availability, locations I’d be willing to work at, etc. The only moment I could have any input otherwise was at the very end when, after being asked basically yes or no questions for 15 minutes, deliver a 30 seconds sales pitch as to why I’d be a good fit for Wegmans. I’m ok with not being offered the position, it’s just stocking, but hands-down the most soulless interview I’ve ever been a part of.

Question 1
Literally no constructive interview questions were asked except a quick 30 seconds sales pitch at the end I had to make.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (Syracuse, NY) in May 2026
Interview
Incredibly odd interview. I’ve never had a recruiter be so dull and lifeless. She asked a plethora of questions that seemed unrelated to the position. When I told her I was willing to work overnights Friday - Monday she scoffed that I couldn’t work Tuesday - Thursday because of school. What retailer doesn’t want an employee committed to working the hardest shift to fill? She had zero personality and seemed bored. Complete opposite of what I would have expected from Wegmans. It felt cold and scripted. I was just applying for some extra cash. I’ll use my education and experience somewhere else. For a regional grocery store, Wegmans acts like they’re Disney.
I applied online. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (Washington, DC) in Jan 2026
Interview
Interview process was quick! I applied online, received an email to schedule a phone interview the next day then I had my in person interview 3 days after phone interview.
The recruiter on the phone was friendly but the in person interview was incredibly weird. HR recruiter in person only read questions directly from the computer screen, body language was only towards the screen. No eye contact and rushed through the interview questions. It was not conversational and I felt it could’ve been taken over the phone. This seemed odd and very unprofessional to me. I know it’s a stock position but the interview was not personable at all and didn’t mirror my expectation of Wegmans recruitment style. Recruiting and customer service is a dying art.

Applied online then got an email asking to schedule a phone interview. After completing the phone interview I was offered to schedule an in person interview where they gave me a tour of the back and then held the interview. A few hours after my interview I got a call with an offer.
