I applied online. I interviewed at Western Dental Services (Rowlett, TX) in Jan 2023
Interview
It was a very smooth good process, meet at the office and went over the job, pay and hours. I really enjoyed the feel of the office staff and think it would be a good fit for me.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Western Dental Services in Mar 2024
Interview
I received a text from a regional manager's assistant asking if I was still interested in the job. I said yes, he then scheduled a time for a teams call with the regional manager. The call was voice only, very brief (like 9 minutes), then she said she'd follow up with the office manager at the location I applied to. I received an email from the office manager asking to meet. The meeting was in person, during lunch when the office was closed. Not really a formal interview, it was the office manager telling me how chaotic things were and sharing all of the bad parts of the job with me. A week went by without a word. I followed up with the office manager directly, she was surprised no one had reached out to me. A few days later I get a text from the regional's assistant asking if I still want the job.
Most of the process was me chasing down a response. Almost all communication was text or email. So strange.
The offer letter was for a "regular/full time" position but they did not share that when the patients are done coming in I would be cut each day to save on payroll. Also if the dentist calls out sick the appointments are cancelled and it's an unpaid day off for the staff. None of this was discussed in an interview.
Travel is also required with this company for training. Travel to other offices. My first week commute was 2 1/2 hours roundtrip each day. They were also trying to require me to travel 70 miles away to another office for an all day course on suggestive selling 3rd party financing for dental procedures. This was also never mentioned in the interview.
I quit on the first day of my 3rd week, my manager left sick (claimed she was sick and going to the ER but never did), and I had to run the office alone, barely trained. Nobody checked on me, nobody came to support me. I barely knew the job and was abandoned. I was never told this could happen in the interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you deal with an angry customer who's insurance denied coverage for a procedure?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Western Dental Services (San Bernardino, CA) in May 2023
Interview
It was a nice interview. The interviewer answered all of my questions that I had in regard to the company and the position. The interviewer was great at describing what is required of me in this position.
