I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at WhereIsMyTransport (Cape Town) in Dec 2012
Interview
Very relaxed. Good questions on my abilities. Some technical questions, but nothing too difficult. I was one of the first people to join, and I met the person interviewing me before at a bar so that could be why it was so easy.
I arrived on my bicycle, and they offered me some water, since I was exhausted. After chatting about cricket for a bit, we entered the meeting area, where job related questions were asked. I was honest and said I didn't know much about public transit systems. We then discussed the tech I have been working on and the tech they use (.NET).
After that an offer was made. I asked to have some time to think it over, which was fine. I then accepted a week or so later.
The interview consisted of a screening call, in person technical interview and then an in person team fit interview. Each session was about an hour long. The coding challenge was fun!
Initial call with HR, then hiring manager. Asked usual questions and asked for previous experience and salary expectations. Could not answer some of my questions about company security and the culture. Left very unsure on set up and if this was a viable long term option.
