The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Whirlpool Corporation (Benton Harbor, MI) in Mar 2010
Interview
I had a telephonic interview first with one of the managers and an engineer in the group. They asked detailed questions about my PhD research and showed real interest. Then after a long time I got an on site interview call. Even though they really liked my work in Phd, they thought that I am little over qualified for the job in the sense that it was less of an R&D job and more of an engineering job. They wanted to hire someone with more hands-on experience with signal processing etc. But the manager was honest about it and told me that they would like to offer me job in future if possible. It was nice experience and the manager was nice and honest all the way.

Interview
Initially contacted by a recruiter to take a behavioral test and a video recording interview. A month later I was contacted by the recruiter to set up an interview with the hiring manager. Two days later, a technical interview with two engineers. An hour after the tech interview the hiring manager called and presented the offer.
The process was very quick and smooth. All of the people I interacted with were very nice and professional. I accepted the offer with pleasure.
