Applied online for new store opening. I went to open interview session with resume and they looked up my appllication. I waited and after a while, one of the managers pulled me out of the seating area and informed me that normally he would be the 2nd interview, but he didn't want me waiting any longer. He was friendly and asked basic questions. He told me that my previous salary was much higher than they would be able to pay, but as long as I'm still interested, my great attitude would get me the job, no problem. All I had to do was come down on the salary requirement. I agreed and he asked me to wait for the dept. mgr to interview me. The dept. manager somehow missed me in the secondary waiting area and almost interviewed someone else first for the position, but the first manager came over, telling her to interview me first. After quick chat, she asked me what I would like to be paid. The salary range for that job on Glassdoor is $10-12 and a friend who is a Whole Foods employee told me that with my management and customer service experience, I should expect to have no problem getting $12. I was offered the job at $11/hour. She asked if I would be happy with that, I asked for $12, ($10 less than my last salary) and she said they could only do $11 tops. I asked if we could meet in the middle at $11.50, she said no, because I don't have enough professional baking experience. I had been told by the last manager that no experience is needed as long as I enjoy cooking/baking and had my positive attitude. She then continued with asking basic interview questions and said she was interested, but would have to crunch numbers and call me the following day. I was never called.
