      Entry Level Environmental Scientist Interview

      26 Jun 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Butte, MT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Woodard & Curran (Butte, MT)

      Interview

The interview process was extremely long and drawn out - lasting about 5 months total. The Recruitment Coordinator was incredibly difficult to communicate with - frequently disappearing for days, weeks, even months at a time with no explanation and no warning. Polite requests for updates were met with silence. My first interview was a screener phone call. I was sent two completely different dates for this interview - and the Recruitment Coordinator would not respond to my requests for clarification as to which date was the correct date. Each time I was given a time frame for when I would hear back it would consistently take much, much longer. Eventually I was given an in-person interview at the local office. I was told that I would hear back "either way" in a few days and was encouraged to contact the hiring managers "any time". I left feeling good about the interview - especially given that they literally told me they were very excited about my experience and qualifications. They acted very eager to continue the process and spoke as if I'd already been offered the position - which was odd but encouraging. Not a single one of those interviewers responded to any of my emails. I did not hear back from anyone in the company again for nearly 3 months. At that time I was contacted out of nowhere by the Recruitment Coordinator for yet another interview. I replied immediately with my availability so that an interview could be scheduled. I heard nothing for over a week. The Recruitment Coordinator could not be bothered to reply to my email inquiring as to what was going on. Eventually I was told that they'd hired someone else and the interview was cancelled. I really did not care for the sloppiness and unprofessionalism of this process. I found it very unprofessional to keep fumbling interview dates, ghosting for long lengths of time, and ultimately scheduling interviews that they clearly never had any intention of conducting. I would not suggest applying to this company as it is very difficult to determine whether they're telling you the truth or whether you're being strung along in order to meet interview quotas. I no longer believe that I ever had a fair shot at being offered this position - I suspect they already knew exactly who they were going to hire for the entire process. I find their website espousing how much they care for their employees to be quite hypocritical after my experience working through their hiring process for 5 months.
