I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at World Market in May 2013
Interview
I put in my application on a whim Friday night, the GM called me Monday before noon to set up an interview that Thursday without me following up.
I arrived on time but had to wait for a good 30 minutes while the GM and supervisor did some office things, after which I immediately was sat down with the supervisor. She was super nice and seemed to love that I brought a copy of my own resume, especially since I have an atypical work history. The interview with her lasted a good 45 minutes maybe, and she asked about each of my previous jobs, sprinkling that with the Cost Plus questions ("Explain a time you disagreed with a collage and how you solved your disagreement." and "What would be three words used to describe you by your references and past employers?"). She went over the duties of the register and floor, along with their Explorer's Club (which is super important to them and was brought up in all other interviews) and then I was told to wait while she spoke to the GM.
Five minutes after that I sat down with the GM (which happens only after getting through the super) and it lasted maybe 5 minutes. We mostly spoke about why someone with a BA would apply for such a position (saving for school). He must have really liked me, because he asked for me to come in the following day (Friday) to speak to another pair of higher ups.
The third (and final) interview was with a pair and I'm still not sure their positions but they asked the same typical questions--"What could you bring to World Market that would make us better?" or "Why did you apply to the position? How did you hear of it?" and the most important: "If you have an upset customer how would you deal with them in trying to solve their problem?"--after those questions they went over dress code (jeans, khakis and t-shirts of a certain color, closed toe shoes), duties of the position beyond the register and floor (cleaning up the store and bathrooms after closing). The interview in all maybe lasted 20/25 minutes, ending with them saying they'd call me by Wednesday after their store meeting.
The GM called me Wednesday (like they said they would) and it seems that I have the job because he asked if I was still interested (yes, duh) before saying that hey simply need to run information through corporate (background check? I don't know) which would take a few more days before they would officially offer.

Question 1
If you have an upset customer how would you deal with them in trying to solve their problem?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at World Market (Fort Collins, CO) in Jan 2026
Interview
I was taken to the back and the interview began. The questions were very generic. There was no questions that caught me off guard which was nice. The interview was about 40 minutes long which I thought was shocking but I was nervous at first and the manager made me feel comfortable.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at World Market (Cary, NC) in Oct 2025
Interview
The interview process was easy and simple. Managers were extremely friendly and kind. They asked very basic questions that were targeted towards your availability and you’re role at the store.
Schedueling conflict. When I showed up the person who was supposed to interview me was not there and someone else had to take over. They seemed unprepared to do conduct an interview.
