Because Covid has made job hiring very ambiguous and timelines very uncertain, I was very excited when I was invited for an initial 30 min phone interview with an internal recruiter. It went very well, and it resonated with him when I spoke about valuing a company's transparency and communication. He then invited me to a 2nd interview with director of marketing operations which took place about one week after the first call.
The 2nd interview was a phone call scheduled on a Tuesday. Although a question or two of the 2nd interview made it somewhat apparent I may not be knowledgeable enough in some areas for the position, I did my best and the interviewer seemed to appreciate it. He told me he'd follow up with the internal recruiter about next steps.
After my 2nd phone interview I emailed the interal recruiter with a thank you/follow up, as one would do. I sent that email on Tuesday, and did not receive a response for the rest of the week. I sent another email a week later on the following Tuesday to check in, and remind him of my interest. Since Monday was a holiday, I figured to wait a few days in case the team was on vacation. Did not hear back for the rest of the week. That following Monday, almost 2 weeks after my 2nd interview, I checked in with another hiring manager looking for an update. She immediately got in touch with the internal recruiter who then finally emailed me back apologizing and told me he would be in touch with me by the end of the week regarding my next steps. Needless to say I did not get an email at the end of the week, but the following week that they decided to go pursue other candidates--this email came 1 month after submitting my application. By this point, I had pretty much already assumed the outcome due to the lack of communication and demoralizing wait for an update--plus, I was pretty frustrated from several weeks of anticipation.
While FieldEdge did (and still does) seem like a great company to work for, I found it very ironic for the initial portion of the interview process to value transparency and communication, while in reality my experience hardly reflected that. I only write this review as I've never experienced anything like this before and perhaps to set expectations of how long the interview process may be.
