I was connected to the supervisor by a colleague who also worked this job part-time. Once we corresponded via email, I was able to come into the office for a brief interview and a tour of the work station and various tasks of the job.

Interview
It took 3 months from the time of my application to the interview, but it went very well. The offer was made about 2 weeks later, and then it took another couple of weeks to start. Worth the wait.
