      Scrum Master Interview

      24 Feb 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Yaro in Jan 2020

      Interview

      - Completed an intro phone screen - Completed a phone screen with hiring manager - Completed on-site with 8 different members of the company - Completed phone screen with CEO. Yaro was acquired by Virgin Pulse the day before I had this call. When talking with the CEO, there was no indication this role would not be filled. In fact, she inferred there was potential to grow a team of SMs down the road and/or integrate with Virgin Pulse. - I was then asked to provide references. All were contacted by Yaro over the next couple of weeks. - I was then asked my salary expectations for the role. I replied the same day. A week later I was sent an email stating that they were no longer hiring for the role b/c the job title "Scrum Master" wasn't a job title with Virgin Pulse. I understand that hiring priorities and positions can change during an acquisition, however, I was completely strung along in this process. If there was ever a doubt that they wouldn't be filling the role - I should've been told as much. They shouldn't have been reaching out to my references and asking me about salary either. To top it off - candidates deserve a phone call if they've been through 60+ day interview/application process. An email in the middle of the night was a coward move.
