      Unity Developer Interview

      10 Mar 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Yodo1 Games in Jan 2025

      Interview

Very bad process for the Unity Developer role. The coding challenge has absolutely nothing to do with Unity Game development. At the end they sent me a rejection letter so vague not even describing why exactly I was declined.

      Interview

They sent a technical assessment before an interview and are completely ghosting after submitting it successfully, not even a single piece of feedback or a follow-up email on my application

Hey there, thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating delays and lack of communication can be. We’d like to clarify a few points about our process. Due to the extremely high number of applications we have received (and are still receiving) for our Unity Developer roles, it can take time to properly review every application. We make a point of carefully assessing all candidates across all of our roles to ensure a fair and consistent process. There are a few common reasons why an application may be declined or delayed: - We require candidates to achieve 70% or above in the assessment. If your result was below this threshold, your application would not progress. - Our assessment platform (Coderbyte) may detect potential or definite cheating during the assessment. In such cases, applications are automatically declined. - A candidate’s CV/profile may not match the specific requirements of the role, such as experience on a relevant type of game project. We also want to reassure you that we have multiple openings for this role, and every single applicant will receive an email regarding the status of their application once we have completed the review stage. We recognise that in your case our communication did not meet expectations, and we are working to improve response times and ensure all candidates are kept informed throughout the process. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. Emma Myall - Head of Recruiting @ Yodo1

      Interview

Has probably one of the most passive-aggressive rejection e-mails. The "role not being the best fit for me" even though I'm working in the role in question, just in a different company. I didn't receive any piece of feedback; that would have at least given some reasoning and I would have appreciated the transparency. Since the rejection is so cold and impersonal, I can only assume that they randomly rejected my application or there is a bug in their assessment process that didn't present my submission properly (I got a warning saying my submission was incomplete, even though I had completed everything).

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We found a bug that triggered the incomplete submission notices you received and fixed it; I apologize for that inconvenience. Despite the bug, I assure you your application was not randomly rejected. Our hiring team reviews all applications, and decides whether or not to move forward by checking the code test results alongside the requirements for this role, as defined in the job description. With a high volume of applicants, we rely on automation to ensure everyone receives timely communication, and our recruiters are committed to providing personal feedback to candidates who interview with us. Thank you again for applying with us, and taking the time to share your experience; your feedback is how we improve.
