The company had no intention of hiring. I walked in and they seemed to have forgotten that someone was coming in that day for an interview. After waiting for about twenty minutes, an employee brought me to a computer and handed me an invoice. She asked me to make an ad using the information given on the invoice.
While I was working, the boss or manager was walking around peering over other's shoulders and making rude comments. He screamed at an employee for doodling while on a sales call. The whole office did not seem phased by this. In fact, one employee was mouthing the words the boss was saying while he was screaming. Clearly, this is a regular occurrence in the office.
After I completed the ad, a woman who seemed to be in charge of the art side of things sat me down and discussed the ad and seemed very happy with my design. She showed me the publications they produce and then thanked me for coming. She did not ask me any questions. I had to ask her to stay so I could ask some questions about the company and learn more. She didn't seem to want to talk any longer. I am pretty sure they asked me to come in, make an ad, and then use that ad in their next publication. Good way to get free work.
I was told I would hear back within two weeks. I was not surprised I never got a call back and I am grateful. This place is not somewhere I would ever want to work.
